Smarty Ears came out with an AMAZING new assessment app called The Test of Articulation and Phonology (iTap)! This app assesses and analyzes a child's speech errors in both articulation and phonology. This would be a great assessment tool for the SLP on the GO! No heavy assessment bag or protocols needed! I used this app strictly for progress monitoring. It allowed me to see the growth my student made, and what new goals needed to be added.
As you can see in the screenshot above, adding new students does not take a lot of time.
One great feature, is that all of the photos used in this app are REAL photos. There is an option to record a child's utterance to play back or assess at a later time.
When screening one of my students, I found this note section to be very helpful. It allowed me to report any additional speech distortions, dysfluencies, or atypical vocal qualities noted in my student's speech.
Once completed, a detailed report of my student's speech errors was generated to review and share/email. Overall, I found this app to be a great progress monitoring tool to have!
